An industry-first process to work around Waze listing platform limitations to identify and correct public suggestion errors.
Waze listings validated every month automatically.
Listings contained impactful errors corrected.
Waze is a community-driven app that leverages user-generated content to provide up-to-date information on road conditions, traffic patterns, and locations, making it a critical tool for daily commuters, travelers, and businesses. Owned by Google, Waze uses the key local listing details (business name, address, phone number, and hours of operation) from the corresponding Google Business Profile to populate the destination details of business searches. Any updated to GBP details are pushed to Waze on a timely basis. (The business team at LocalClarity have seen GBP edits reflect publicly on Waze within two minutes).
The challenge experienced by a large network of urgent care clinics related to public suggested edits for locations. Waze would routinely accept the updates for hours and even phone numbers, without maintaining a mechanism to confirm the changes with the business. Exacerbating the issue, Waze does not maintain an API that allows for directly listing management control for large organizations. The clinics never knew if or when the critical contact details were changed.
Given the lack of direct API controls from Waze, the LocalClarity team crafted a process to automatically identify the URL of each Waze listing and then index the details of each listing. The data points were then incorporated directly into the parent location records to make it straightforward to identify contact details that needed to be updated to correctly reflect the clinic details. Fortunately, the integration with Google works to your advantage as a quick GBP listing update pushes the corrections to the Waze network.
The public indexing of Waze listing content caught listing detail error for 7% (85) location on the first indexing run. The LocalClarity team worked with the client to confirm the correct details and then push updates to the Waze platform. Going forward, this new process is catching an additional 5-10 errors monthly that would have previously been identified with a customer complaint.
