Google advises uploading various business photos, boosting website clicks and location requests.
Google advises businesses to upload several different types of images:
- At least three strong exterior photos, taken at different times of the day and showing the approach to the business from common angles
- A minimum of three interior photos
- Product photos for the most popular products and services you sell
- One image of any common area your business may have, such as the reception
- A minimum of three management and team photos
- For bars, restaurants and cafes, images of the most popular food and drinks
- For hotels, images of guest rooms should be uploaded
Google even shares some great statistics to validate that the effort will produce substantial results. "Businesses with photos receive 42% more requests for driving directions to their location from users on Google, and 35% more clicks through to their websites than businesses that don't have photos."
How-To: Single Image Uploads
We have made this as straightforward as possible. Simply navigate to the Manage Locations section and click on the targeted listing. In the Location Detail pane you will see the Image: upload link.
The link will trigger the pop-up box where you can assign the image and the image category.
How-To: Bulk Uploads
LocalClarity is designed to make this process as easy as possible across hundreds or even thousands of locations. Bulk uploads are accessed from the Bulk Actions button in the upper right corner of the Locations section.
When you click on the Bulk Upload Image option, you will receive a pop-up box that lets you upload a file. For instructions on how to prepare the upload file, you can click the option to Download a Sample CSV.
Pro-Tips for Easy Uploads
- Make certain that the image URL in the upload is accessible publicly.
- Use on location-specific images. Google may reject generic corporate images or stock photography.
- Make certain all images meet Google's size requirements.
How to format bulk sheet
When first downloaded, the Sample Download will appears as it does below. After familiarizing yourself with the Sample Download, delete all the sample data and get ready to begin building your sheet.
- Each new row is required to have the Location ID. Store Code and Location Name can be used but are optional fields, as they are more for identification while structuring the file. We use the Location ID as our primary method of identifying different locations through bulk uploads.
- Using a publicly accessible image, begin adding those links below the appropriate image category columns.
- Save as a CSV and upload in the application. Images may take around 10-15 minutes to finish uploading.
