Within Google's Web Search Help forum, European Union users have expressed their initial pain points when trying to access Google Maps. Users have reported not being able to see and click on the map in the Google Search results for accessing details like directions or other location details.
Google has followed up directly in own help their forum stating that "In order to comply with the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA), we made changes to Google Search in European Economic Area (EEA). Maps that may appear in Search results do not link to Google Maps. The Maps link at the top of the Search page that links to Google Maps has been removed. Google published a blog about compliance with the DMA. Here's the link to the blog if you'd like to learn more." Google Maps in the EU are now only expandable and users will not be able to click on location details from this view.
This is only applicable to EU users.
