Location Recommendations Based on Your Food Preferences
Previously, to receive personalized restaurant recommendations on Google Maps, users needed to go to Food and Drink preferences in their Google Maps profile settings. Google has updated this so you can set your preferences using the Settings button located just above local search results. The Google Search feature requires restaurant owners to give accurate and up-to-date information. While the filter is theoretically to help optimize listings, it requires restaurant owners to manually fill out every primary and secondary attribute listed in association with their registration. For those updating the settings button for preferences, this is undoubtedly a convenient feature. On the other hand, for those using it for dietary restrictions, it never hurts to ask your server or the person taking your order (i.e., a human being who represents the restaurant they work at).
