Testing of Mobile SERPS With No 3-Packs
Google has been testing a change to mobile search results. One of the biggest changes noted in local search for quite some time is Google updating mobile results so that only two local results display. This change, if permanent, could have a positive impact on businesses that hold the #1 local search rank position. With one fewer results above it, that position just potentially became more valuable.
While 60% of all searches take place on mobile devices (thus the term mobile-first indexing), mobile and desktop continue to feature local snippets, featured snippets, local packs, videos, top stories, images, knowledge panels, people also ask (PAA), and related searches. Mobile has shown signs of changing, however, trending toward two local results, as opposed to three.
